Melissa Müller

Melissa Müller (born 1967 in Vienna, Austria) is a journalist and author.

After working as an Au Pair for some time in London, Müller decides first for a study of the management economics and Germanistik, afterwards she worked for different restaurant editorships and - magazines. In the mid-90s she decided to write the book "Anne Frank: The Biography" and to fill the historical gaps in The Diary of the Anne Frank by research. She asks historians, archives, time witnesses, she travels to Israel and to the USA. In 1998,the book "Anne Frank: The Biography was published and Müller was excited that for the first time she received international large attention. In 2001,the movie "Anne Frank: The Whole Story" premiered on ABC with Ben Kingsley and Hannah Taylor-Gordon in the main roles.The movie was not based on Anne Frank's diary, but on Müller's book. With the searches to a subsequent project about artists in the Third Reich, she becomes acquainted with Traudl Junge. At that time she wants to ask her about Hitler's art taste, from the discussions ,she develops the biographic novel Until the Final Hour. The biography talks about Hitler's secretary, in which she documents her life as Hitler's secretary. On the basis of the book Until the Final Hour and a historical sketch of Joachim Fest, the film Downfall was made. Melissa Müller was married with the publisher Christian Branstätter. Today she is married with Rüdiger Salat. The couple has two children.
