Meldware Communication Server

Buni Meldware Communication Server is an open source messaging and collaborative software product developed by Buni.org. Meldware Communication Server is a relatively new project which uses the Java language and Virtual Machine to support its core implementation. The project envisions ease of installation and configuration as a core goal in addition to executing on multiple platforms and utilizing multiple databases. Meldware Communication Server consists of: Meldware Mail, Meldware Webmail and Meldware Calendar Server. Originally Meldware Communication Server was named JBoss Collaboration Server/JBoss Mail Server, but moved to Buni.org in late 2006.

The present release version of Meldware Communication Server is 1.0 Milestone 7 (Early 2007). As of this release it supports both of the POP and SMTP protocols with a wide range of security and routing settings. One of the project goals is to allow "Mail-Based Applications" through user extensibility. Much of the core server is implemented using these extension points based on JBoss Application Server's extended version of JMX MBeans and Java classes conforming to Meldware Mail Server's MailListener interface.
