Tram route 109 or simply The 109 is a public transport service in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It runs between a terminus near Station Pier in Port Melbourne and a terminus in Box Hill. The route runs along a light rail track between Port Melbourne and Southbank, along the course of the Sandridge railway line, the first railway line in Australia. It then turns north and continues up Spencer Street to the Melbourne CBD, along Collins Street and then out to the Eastern suburbs. Until 2003 the route terminated in Mont Albert but in 2003 was extended to Box Hill along Whitehorse Road at the cost of $28 million.[citation needed]

The route incorporates parts of the following former Melbourne tram routes:

  • Route 23: City via Latrobe St - Victoria Pde - Mont Albert [peak only]
  • Route 42: City - Mont Albert
  • Route 47: City - Kew Depot
  • Route 111: Port Melbourne - City - Kew Depot

The route is served almost exclusively by Citadis trams.
