Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works was a public utility board in Melbourne, Australia set up to provide water supply, sewerage and sewage treatment functions for the city. It was abolished in 1992 by Jeff Kennett's Liberal government amid fears that, as a semi-autonomous entity, it was usurping power that Kennett's Liberal Party of Australia felt rightfully belonged to the state government.
