Mel Stewart

Mel Stewart (b. September 19, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, d. February 24, 2002 in Pacifica, California) was an American character actor who appeared in numerous films and television shows from the 1960s to the 1990s. He is best known for playing Henry Jefferson on the popular TV series All in the Family.

Stewart was also an accomplished saxophonist and stage actor. He was a member of The Committee improvisational comedy troupe in San Francisco. Stewart died of Alzheimer's disease.
