Meitei Mayek script (also Meithei Mayek, Meetei Mayek, Manipuri script) (Manipuri: Meetei Mayek) is a syllabic script used for the Meitei language (Manipuri), one of the official languages of the Indian state of Manipur. The Meitei Mayek script is based on the Gupta Brahmi script like many other scripts used for Tibetan languages. Every letter in Meitei Mayek is named after a body part. Every consonant in the syllabary has the inherent vowel a. Other vowels are specified with diacritics.
