Meilichos, also Meilihos, Milichos and Milihos (Greek: Μείλιχος ), is a river in the northwestern part of the Achaia prefecture. The river flows in the entirety of the municipalities of Rio and then Patras and empties into the Gulf of Patras.

[edit] Geography

The river begins in the Panachaiko mountains in the west side, it flows next to its reservoir where it supplies water to Patras and some electricity as well as flood control, it flows in a narrow valley with a couple of ledges and enters the neighbourhood of Sychaina and into Patras at the Agyia neighbourhood, the river empties into the Gulf of Patras near Iroon Polytechneiou Street and east of the city's yacht. During the Ancient times near modern day Meilichos featured a temple of Artemis Triklarias, which is not founded to the archaeologists. By Aretha Street today not far from the Meilichos between the old (GR-8) and the new (GR-8A, Patras - Corinth - Athens) or the E55 and the E65 had uncovered a brodge dating back to the Roman times.

[edit] Places within the river

  • Sychaina (a Patras neighborhood)
  • Agyia (two Patras neighborhoods)
