From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The image may meet Wikipedia:Fairuse#Policy as an album, CD, DVD, tape or book cover, when it is used in an article about the album, CD, DVD, tape or book itself. It should not be used to illustrate the appearance of anything contained in the image; for example, using the cover of True Blue to illustrate the appearance of Madonna is not fair use. Please read the Wikipedia:Fairuse#Counterexamples to confirm that you will be using the image correctly. If everything is okay, then you must:

  • make sure the image is no larger than necessary to get across the point you are making (usually not wider than 300 pixels),
  • provide a Wikipedia:Fair use rationale for the use of the image in the article (Explain what the image is and why it is essential in the article, and why it couldn’t be replaced by a free image.),
  • give the source of the image (for example, “Own scan of UK cover of the book About a Boy, 3rd paperback edition”) and
  • add one of the following copyright tags to the image.
