[edit] KillerChihuahua
KillerChihuahua (talk • contribs) I have been a registered editor on WikiPedia since 29 June 2004, and been an administrator since 14 January 2006. I have informally mediated a number of disputes. Recently I received two emails in close succession, one complimenting me as "one of our very best conflict-handling admins" and one specifically suggesting I consider joining the Mediation Committee. Upon reflection, I believe I have the necessary attributes to contribute in this area, and as I see there is a need, I place myself under your consideration. I keep this brief so as not to be tiresome to read; please feel free to ask me questions on any specific I have not addressed. KillerChihuahua?!? 16:50, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Comments:
- Can you provide some links to cases which you've informally mediated upon? I'm leaning to support, by the way :) Martinp23 20:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Apologies, that will probably take some time to put together - the informal nature of my mediations has virtually ensured they are scattered over user talk and article talk pages, rather than in one "mediation" locale. For now, an example can be found here of my successful efforts to calm a new editor who was engaging in some disruptive behavior, although it is a minor incident and my tone was terser than I usually prefer. More recently I have been doing what I can to assist with Ilena, but my role there has been minor to say the least and my efforts were not at first well received, so I withdrew until my asssistance was requested - see User_talk:Durova#Thank_you... for a brief outline of that, with links. Further content is on User_talk:Ilena#Recommendation. Currently, it appears the situation there is that Ilena has chosen to leave Wikipedia due to travel concerns, so there is no way of knowing whether attempts to work with her would have ultimately been successful. Please let me know if this is at all helpful, or if you require something more specific. I realize both of these involve working with only one user, but those are the ones I could link to without undue delay. KillerChihuahua?!? 22:27, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

- I fully understand the nature of informal mediation being everywhere, and appreciate that you have been able to dig up some links, which I'll take a read through tomorrow (when I'm more awake). Would you consider taking on one of our open cases, listed here, as mediator, when you have the time? Thanks, Martinp23 22:33, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

- I see one case without a mediator: Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Kriss Donald. I would appreciate clarification of what you are asking; are you asking if I would assist in one of the cases which has a mediator, or take that case as a "trial run", or if I would be available if and when I might be accepted by the MC? Thanks much - KillerChihuahua?!? 00:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry - I realise how ambiguous I was in my last comment - would you be willing to act as mediator in one of our currently waiting cases, as a non-commitee member, like, as you said, a trial run? Thanks, Martinp23 19:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- No need to apologise! I just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly. Now I have another question: Is this kosher, so to speak? In other words, as no one else has weighed in on this idea, if it is not usual practice I am a little concerned that some members of the Mediation Committee might not support me mediating at this time - I don't want to seem overly concerned with The Rules, but on the other hand I don't want to do anything too far out-of-process and cause any strife or issues. Thanks much, I appreciate your patience with me. KillerChihuahua?!? 22:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, it's perfectly kosher, and is written in the rules somewhere - it's just a useful opportunity for us to get a feel of your ability, and for you to get a feelng of mediation. On the MedCom page, it says something along the lines of a non-meditor being permitted to take unasssigned cases (these can be found in the open tasks box). Anything on WP:RFM is generally still waiting be be accepted by the commitee, so you sohuldn't pick a case from there. Feel free to ask if you need any help, Martinp23 22:19, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

(reduce indent) Ah, and I see you have done so yourself. I have taken Kriss Donald, and also made free to steal utilize your phrasing - thanks much! KillerChihuahua?!? 22:44, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- I feel this user's sense of humor alone is a great asset to any mediation. --Ideogram 20:08, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
