[edit] Cadr

Cadr (talkcontribs) I saw that there was a shortage of mediators, so I thought I would help out. I've been on Wikipedia for just over three years, and made ~2500 edits so far. I've been involved in some edit wars, etc. in that time, of course, but I think I've generally been civil to other users and learned how to resolve disputes without letting things get too personal. • Yes, being civil is a must (for all editors). Can you mention some editwars that we can look at? Because staying civil and not getting personal on a dispute where one is involved is not the same as staying civil and not personal in someoneelse's dispute. -- Drini 03:14, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
  • See my answer below (though I'd be happy to give some more examples if you want them).Cadr 22:32, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Comment: would you mind clarifying the situations you describe above, such as the "edit wars" and other disputes? Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 21:39, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
  • I didn't really have anything specific in mind -- obviously over a period of three years any editor is going to get involved in some disputes. A recent example of a farily heated discussion would be at Talk:Anti-Americanism. As you can see I state my opinions strongly, but I don't think I cross over into uncivility. I can also admit to being wrong, as for example at Talk:Python_programming_language#Short_circuit_metaphor. Here's another example of a civil discussion [[1]]. A few other examples [[2]], [[3]] (careful not to confuse me with Carl in that one!) Mostly the articles I'm interested in are on controversial issues, so it doesn't take much more than a brief look through my edit history to find some debates. Regarding actual edit wars, as opposed to heated talk page discussions, I think the only time I was involved in one (to the extent of reverting pages multiple times, etc.) was a couple of years ago w.r.t Augusto Pinochet. • Thanks for the prompt response! I'll need some more time to look this over and will respond here shortly. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:11, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
