[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Gabrielangel 02:39, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
User:Gabrielangel
Where is the issue taking place?
The dispute took place on the encyclopedic entry, "Gabrielangel"
Who's involved?
User: Gabrielangel and User: P.B. Pilhet, a self-proclaimed new entry patroller
What's going on?
I selected the an anonymous username of a famous internet celebrity, Gabrielangel, to start an account. I then wrote up an encyclopedic entry called "Gabrielangel" because a mass all out search for more information about this gamer occurred by thousands of World of Warcraft players. However, this new website editor, Mr. Phibet, who appears to be 16, deleted my new entry on incorrect grounds. He stated it violated a rule that one cannot post about himself, and deleted my new entry, and moved the whole thing to my User: Talk page. I didn't post it about myself, I just happen to have the same username as the entry post, so I believe his actions incorrect. I first took the step of attempting to communicate with him on here, before bringing the dispute to mediation, but failed.
What would you like to change about that?
I would like User: P.B. Pilhet to not edit or move my articles around again without proper reason. I would also like this move corrected. I want the article put back in it's proper place in the encyclopedia entry, and have it taken out of my own user info where Mr. Phibet put it. I am not Gabrielangel in real life! I do admit I haven't mastered the learning curve of wiki yet though, and apparently Mr. P.B. Pilhet possesses some level of administrative power. That makes this whole thing intimidating for me because I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing. But I did notice other people have complained about Mr. Phibet on his talk page.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
Please just email at Varsityman@aol.com . I don't know exactly how best to use wiki yet, I'm not really sure how to fluidly message people very well on this site.

[edit] Mediator response

The first thing you'll want to note is that all of the people who've interacted with you have done so politely :]. Secondly, the article which you posted doesn't assert notability. "Asserting notability" means that it says why this person is so famous or known or important as to be included in a general encyclopedia. Per Wikipedia:Notability, he is not a famous internet gamer. Usually when someone posts about an internet gamer whose name is the same as their own, they're writing about themselves. Because this happens so often, your page was userfied (moved from articlespace to your own userspace). However, regardless of whether it is you, he is not notable enough to have his own entry. I'd recommend reading up on some of the policies or guidelines here and I'm sorry you met up with the deletion side so soon. :] Cheers! --Keitei (talk) 12:15, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
