- What's going on?
- Basically, there is a dispute between two alternative wordings of the first paragraph of the article:
1)The King's College of Our Lady of Eton beside Windsor, commonly known as Eton College or just Eton, is a prestigious and internationally known independent school for boys, which is often described as the most famous school in the world. [1]
2)The King's College of Our Lady of Eton beside Windsor, commonly known as Eton College or just Eton, is a prestigious and internationally known independent school for boys. Eton is often mentioned alongside Harrow School and Winchester College as one of Britain's three most famous public schools. It is considered by some to be the most famous school in the world.
Version 1, without the citation, was the original version until recently, when 207.172.223.214 inserted the second sentence in version 2, later adding the third sentence. I initiated a discussion on the talk page about this, and until very recently no-one at all had argued against my view supporting version 1 there. At the moment the page is changing several times a day.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I would like the people who continue to revert without engaging with the talk page to be prevented from doing so. Those who favour version 2 have yet to back up their argument with facts, so I do not think it fair that they continue to impose their wording on the page.
- If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
- Via my talk page is fine.
- Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?

Discussion has taken place on Talk:Eton College. It seems a cut-and-dry case, where a maximum of two users have been continually reinserting the same claim, unsourced, with the consensus of the rest of the group against them.
I have conducted a straw poll to get clarity on people's opinions, and am just waiting for user 207.172.223.214 (currently on a 24-hour block) to weigh in. David L Rattigan 10:38, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- There appeared to be a problem with just one user submitting a disputed piece of information without appropriate sources; the regular editors seem to be doing fine now without my help, and there has been no problem in the past week or so. Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
