[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Unchained 23:42, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
Kazaa
Who's involved?
66.98.168.100, various anon users. Got denied protection.
What's going on?
The person editing the page is making false claims about the program KLR. I have tried changing the page to reflect correct information but they just kept reverting it back. They even have a link on the page that proves that my info is correct and their's is not.
What would you like to change about that?
I would like them to take out the false information and include the correct information.
Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?

Would love too.

This is, following the Categorical Imperative, the idea that you might want to do
what you expect others to do. You don't have to, of course, that's why it's a question.

[edit] Mediator response

There seems to be two issues on hand here. One of them is regarding the definition of the term lite or simply put: whether a program with adware can be called lite or not. The other is with regard to the factualy accuracy of the article i.e, whether or not KLR does contain adware, malware or spyware.

Update: 06:19, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I downloaded and ran version 0.0.7.6 F of the software in question from this page. I did find instances of adware in the form of a popup advertisement (see screenshot) when I ran the program. I also custom scanned the installation directory with avast! Antivirus and Windows Defender for malware and spyware respectively and did not find any.

All that remains to be settled is whether or not software with adware can be called 'lite' or not. There is no other doubt about the software's license (freeware) and whether or not it contains adware, spyware and/or malware. Rohit 14:50, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Update: 05:19, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

The program contains adware. There is no other malware or spyware. Rohit 05:19, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Evidence

Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
Wikipedia:Etiquette: Although it's understandably difficult in a heated argument, if the other party is not as civil as you'd like them to be, make sure to be more civil than him or her, not less.

[edit] Compromise offers

This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.
