[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Piercetp 01:57, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
...Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Knightsbridge University
Who's involved?
...User:Uppland and User:Arthur Rubin
What's going on?
... I saw what I know to be an incorrect statement at the beginning of the discussion:Seems to be a diploma mill.[1][2] We have precedence from VfD that notorious diploma mills may be encyclopedic (see Kennedy-Western University and American World University). By stating this the user, Uppland, infers that this Kennedy-Western is a Diploma mill which is to say that it is "an organization which awards academic degrees and diplomas with very little or no academic study and without recognition by official accrediting bodies". Now this is incorrect because KWU is recognized not as a diploma mill but an Unaccredited University, by the State of Oregon. Diploma mill is a derogatory term for any institution which grants bogus degrees for money, often inventing phoney transcripts and references, rather than forcing students to earn degrees. For more discussion on this please see the discussion page in the Kennedy Western University article.

This is a "dead page" yet is preserved as a historic record. I do not know what Wikipedia guidlines cover dead pages, but I have been told by Uppland that I cannot delete any reference to Kennedy-Western in the body of this article. What is worse, when I entered a NPOV statement it was immediately deleted by Arthur Rubin. In other words, the fact that this page is considered "dead" means that it must be left in the condition in which it is. It does not matter if information contained within is of a provocative nature. No editor may touch this.

What would you like to change about that?
...I would like to ether 1) enter a brief statement in the body of the text refuting the implication that KWU is a "diploma mill", 2) Insert a NPOV statement for that section or 3) Delete the page entirely as it is "dead" and no longer serves any purpose.
If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
...Discretion is not important but since I am not always checking this page, please email me at Piercetp3840@sbcglobal.net. Please title the email "Wikipedia" so I know its not spam.
Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?
This is, following the Categorical Imperative, the idea that you might want to do
what you expect others to do. You don't have to, of course, that's why it's a question.
...Perhaps. It depends on how much time is involved. My classwork at Kennedy-Western keeps me very busy. (that was a joke) Oh.. and one more thing... Thanks

[edit] Evidence

Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
Wikipedia:Etiquette: Although it's understandably difficult in a heated argument, if the other party is not as civil as you'd like them to be, make sure to be more civil than him or her, not less.

[edit] Compromise offers

This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.
