[edit] Request for cabal mediation
[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Andrwsc 19:35, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- IPTV
- Who's involved?
- Myself, and the owner of this website [1], usually making anonymous edits but lately also under Ajshroff10.
- What's going on?
- I (and Streamline before me) removed the link to Ajshroff's web site, as it fails several tests described in Wikipedia:External links. I have noted some of my objection on my talk page. Ajshroff continues to add the personal link back, and has also deleted the dispute tag I added to get admin assistance.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I'm not sure what is done in situations like this. I strongly believe that personal sites have no business on Wikipedia, but I can't see how it can be stopped. Ajshroff (anonymously or not) seems very persistent to make an association with the IPTV topic, presumably for personal gain How does the Wikipedia community usually deal with this kind of issue? I am looking for assistance from anybody who has "been there, dealt with that".
- If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
- Please reach me through normal Wikipedia channels. I don't need to be discreet.
- Would you be willing to mediate yourself and accept an assignment as a mediator?
- Sure!
[edit] Mediator response
Looks as though things have been resolved, per this message:
- I think the issue is resolved, thanks! An admin put the {{spam}} template in the "External links" section of IPTV, and User:Ajshroff (+ related anon IPs) and all other users have been abiding by that warning since then. Thanks for the followup, Andrwsc 17:31, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
