[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Eliot 23:08, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- On the articles Salvador Allende and Augusto Pinochet.
- Who's involved?
- Myself and User:Mike18xx.
- What's going on?
- Mike18xx believes that these articles have an inaccurate depiction of Chilean history. His preferred interpretation is not backed up by any reliable secondary sources; he relies on a combination of webpages for the Chilean political opposition, primary sources and his own interpretation of these.
- He has approached me with an unwarranted hostility since before I ever approached him about content (calling me a bastard here) and has only gotten more rude and abusive, continually assuming bad faith on my part. He called me a hypocrite immediately ([1]), and then defended his edits with a rambling fictional analogy. ([2])
- Today, he removed the {{primarysources}} tag I put on the articles even though the resources he's relying on fall exclusively under these categories, as he has admitted on talk pages. He also reverted another user dishonestly calling him a vandal ([3]). He also accused me of using aliases just because I sign my posts with my real name instead of my username ([4]).
- I don't have a problem with the content he's attempting to add to the articles. The problem is, he is only interested in editing the first paragraph to put his own POV on the article. The first paragraph has had POV disputes before and the version that was there before he started editing was a longstanding consensus version.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I'd like to reach a compromise on the first paragraph of the articles, and I'd like Mike18xx to stop his unwarranted hostility towards me, and to respect consensus and verifiability policy.
- If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
- Talk pages are fine.
