There is a sub-text here which has been missed, possibly because the contributors are not based in the United Kingdom. Aside from the Tony Attwood you are writing about there is another Tony Attwood (me) who has written some 80 or so books. Now although some of them are, like the other Tony Attwood (I'll call him Dr Tony Attwood since I have an M Phil not a PhD) in the field of special needs (I write on dysclaculia in particular where my work is widely used in UK schools), I have also written on science fiction. In particular contributions to the two BBC TV cult classics, Doctor Who and Blake's 7.
I have no idea if Dr Attwood said what is alleged here, but since I often get emails intended for him I can say that from once or twice reading emails intended for him, without realising it, this sort of controversy has a certain ring that I recognise.
If you are keeping this stuff about science fiction in, can I ask you add a litle footnote, to the effect that the UK author Tony Attwood, author of both special needs and science fiction books, is not part of this dispute. You can find out more about the UK Tony Attwood (me) at www.attwood.me.uk
You might find that highly trivial, but I do not subscribe to the view that Dr Attwood is alleged to have expressed here, and I would be upset, and possibly my reputation injured in a small way, if it were ever thought that I had any part of this.
