[edit] "Modern" misericords
Hi MedievalRich! Can you quote an authority for your statement on the Misericord page that "Misericords in English churches date from the start of the thirteenth century right up until the twenty-first century, although after the beginning of the seventeenth century they are viewed as modern copies with little or no historical importance. ", or is it just your personal opinion? I would have thought that this was probably true of misericords carved from the early 19th century onwards, when the Victorians began restoring churches etc, but can earlier work than that really be called "modern copies"?
