[edit] Character history
Medusa is the Goddess of Darkness who shared sovereignty with Palutena, the Goddess of Light, over Angel Land. Unlike Palutena, who used her powers for the good of humankind, Medusa evinced her hatred for humans by turning them into stone and destoying their crops. To punish her for these crimes, Palutena turned Medusa into a hideous monster and banished her to the Underworld.
Medusa, stripped of her beauty and consumed with bitterness, swore revenge on Palutena. In order to exact her vengeance, Medusa formed alliances with the monsters and demons of the Underworld and launched a surprise attack on Angel Land. This categorical victory began a war in earnest between the goddesses, with Medusa emerging victorious in the final battle. She captured Palutena in the Palace in the Sky and seized the Three Sacred Treasures, entrusting them to her most powerful servants, the three Gatekeepers: Twinbellows, Hewdraw, and Pandora.
[edit] Kid Icarus
When Palutena freed Pit in order to liberate Angel Land, Medusa did her best to destroy the hero. Nonetheless, her three Gatekeepers were defeated; Pit reclaimed the Three Sacred Treasures and used them to defeat the Goddess of Darkness.
