[edit] External structure

The Old Republic cruiser was a warship used by the Old Republic during the Jedi Civil War. It had a vaguely hammerhead-shaped bridge such as the far later Corellian Corvette, except aligned vertically. The command deck is positioned in the center of the bridge, and has blue viewports. To either side of the command deck and on the top and bottom of the bridge are twin turbolaser batteries.

Attached behind the bridge at the height of the command deck is the center section of the vessel, which is approximately a third of the height of the bridge. The central section is just about as long as the bridge is high. From the events at the Peragus mining station in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, there are two high-power laser cannons on the starboard and portside sides.

After the central fuselage there is the engine section, which ends with an engine cluster than propels the cruiser. However, twin wings branch off of this aft section, giving it a width approximately the height of the whole cruiser.

The exterior hull plating also has the standard Republic red-white color scheme, although not as pronounced such as the Republic Counselor-class corvette.

[edit] Internal structure

The Old Republic cruiser's interior was predominated by yellows and blues. The crew and onboard complement wore red and white uniforms or armor.

The vessel carries a command deck, conference rooms, crew quarters, a medical room, escape pod bays, an engineering section and a droid-repair section, and other miscellaneous rooms.

The command deck is lit by murky yellow lights. The navicomputer is installed into the navigational console, at the front of the bridge. It's organized like a "U", with the navicomputer on the tip, a bank of consoles in the space between the two prongs of the U, and more displays arrayed on the outer side of either prong. Crewmen sit on chairs and monitor their consoles. There are two exits from the command bridge: one at each end of the U.

A docking module is located conveniently close to the command deck on the starboard side. It can be reached in only a few steps from the bridge.

The crew quarters are separated from each other, and are rather small, providing room for a single bed and a footlocker for storage.

The medical room is a large rectangle, with kolto tanks lining the edges. There is also a medical computer console near the center and a medical droid. There is also a lab station for the synthesis of chemicals. In the center of the room, there is also a special kolto tank for a priority patient. After recuperation from injury, the patients can rest in their quartrs and return for various injections.

There is also a conference room, with an oval-shaped table that has chairs for various crewmen or officers to sit. There is a holoprojector console in the center of the table for communication and memory.

Arched corridors and smaller rectangular compartments seem to predominate the Old Republic cruiser.

The lighting and cleanliness of the command and central decks appears to be very consistent and pristine. However, in the aft engineering decks, the lighting is intermittent, and dust particles are all over the place. There is a sort of murky and dark feel in the lesser-maintained aft areas. There are also periodic red lights mounted on the walls.

The engine section is trasversed by a metal walkway that has consoles mounted on it to control engine conditions. Diagostics can be run, and the engine shields can be opened or closed. It is very hot and red from all the energies needed to operate the ion engine system. There are also large ventilation fans to disperse the excess heat.

The engine section can be refuelled externally VIA a fuel pump line.

[edit] Armament

The Medium Cruisers did not appear to be heavily armed. Their main weaponry emplacements seemed to be four double linked turbolaser batteries, and four further point defense laser canons. According to standard protocols for damage ratings, the Medium Cruiser could fire 32 damage units worth of energy per salvo. There also could be several cannons mounted on both sides of the ship, used to provide defense against smaller ships.

[edit] Vessels

Notable vessels of the class include the Endar Spire, Harbinger, and possibly the Sojourn (Admiral Onasi's flagship).
