[edit] History
Mediapolis was first a train station for the city of Kossuth, Iowa at a point on the railroad running from Burlington, Iowa to Wapello, Iowa. The local barbarians were outraged at this! How dare they build a train on this property that was handed down from generation to generation.
An attack plan was formed. In the cover of night, the train station was burned to the ground, and the only building left was the Post Office. The barbarians decided to remain here though, so they could build a new society with higher ethics and morals.
A new name was needed for the tribe, and through some process Mediapolis was chosen. Media, meaning "middle", was apponded to polis, meaning "village", as Mediapolis is half way between Wapello and Burlington.
The railroad has since left the town, and it is now a light manufacturing town and a bedroom community for Burlington and Muscatine, Iowa.
[edit] School
On the north side of Mediapolis is the Mediapolis Community School, an elementary, middle, and high school serving Mediapolis and a large rural area around Mediapolis. The school's sports teams are the Bulldogs and Bullettes. Some of the fine activities there include the Musical, Group Speech, Individual Speech, and the Choir, all of which have been very successful in the past few years!!!
