[edit] Difference from other front-ends for decoder/encoder

MediaCoder is a front-end / GUI for a collection of audio/video command line utilities (including audio decoders/encoders, video decoders/encoders, multiplexers). However, it does more than just generate command lines, launch the individual utilities, and wait for them to terminate. MediaCoder pipes the decoder's output into the encoder's input, rather than using temporary files. This allows it to convert large amounts of data without using excessive disk space. Some GPLed utilities are patched to gain extra interfaces.
