Medebay Zana

Medebay Zana is one of the 36 woredas in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Mi'irabawi Zone, Medebay Zana is bordered on the south by the Tekezé River which separates Tahtay Adiyabo from Tselemti, on the southwest by Asigede Tsimbela, on the northwest by Tahtay Koraro, on the north by La'ilay Adiyabo, and on the east by the Mehakelegnaw (Central) Zone. Towns and cities in Medebay Zana include Debre Kerbe and Seleh Leha.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 130,895, of whom 66,688 were males and 64,207 were females; 10,948 or 8.36% Selehleha of its population are urban dwellers, which is greaterthan the Zone average of 14.7%. With an estimated area of 1,080.94 square kilometers, Medebay Zana has an estimated population density of 121.1 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 40.62.[1]
