The Medallion Shield is an annual rugby union competition in Northern Ireland involving schools affiliated to the Ulster Branch of the IRFU.

The Medallion Shield is strictly for those of "Medallion" year, that is under 15 years of age. The competition took on a new format in 2005:

  • Stage 1. Weakest teams play through mini-leagues with the six league winners going in to Stage 2. All losing sides enter the Medallion Trophy and play on a knock-out basis.
  • Stage 2. Six League winners plus 14 teams based on playing results. Straight knock-out basis. Losers enter the Medallion Bowl.
  • Stage 3. Ten winners from Stage 2 plus six top-seeded teams (MCB, RBAI, CCB, Ballymena Academy, Royal School Armagh and BRA). Knock-out competition through to the final. Losers play in the Medallion Plate on a knock-out basis.

In 2007 Methodist College beat Regent House by 15 points to 10 at Ravenhill. Royal School, Armagh won the Plate[1], Omagh Academy won the Bowl[2] and Lisneal College won the Trophy[3].
