Mean Street Posse

The Mean Street Posse was a heel professional wrestling stable, clad in sweater vests and dress pants, that formerly wrestled in the World Wrestling Federation. They started off as a group from Greenwich, Connecticut of about ten people in early 1999, but then as the year went on the stable whittled its way down to three members.

They were closely allied with Shane McMahon, often helping him defend the WWF European Title throughout early 1999. They also attempted to help Shane defeat Test at SummerSlam '99, but failed. The Posse were largely known as jobbers. However, Posse leader Joey Abs and Rodney are very accomplished wrestlers. Abs got his start in Omega Pro with the Hardy Boyz, and worked his way through the WWF. Abs even owns a win over Steve Austin in 1996. After the Posse split up in 2000, Abs went to Ohio Valley Wrestling and had a somewhat successful run. After the break up, Rodney became Rodrageous, and Gas continued the Pete Gas gimmick. All three were released in June 2001, and have not been heard from since. To this day, there is still a cult following of the group.

• Gas pinning Crash Holly for the WWF Hardcore title in March 2000 on RAW
• The Posse was involved in a short lived program with Edge and Christian, where E&C hired them to steal back the tag team titles from the Hardy Boyz on Heat
• Joey Abs was involved in a short lived storyline with Stephanie McMahon, where it was revealed that they were ex lovers. He also became the first person in the WWF to be slapped by her.
• The Posse were managed briefly by Terri Runnels.
• Oliver Connell was a member of the orginal Possé, but parted ways with the rest of the guys due to artistic differences.

At WrestleMania 2000 each member won the WWF Hardcore Title for a short while. All three members were briefly signed to the WWF developmental territory of Memphis Championship Wrestling, before being released from their contracts.

• Pete Gas & Rodney were legitimate school friends of Shane McMahon, but Joey Abs was not.

• In 2005 and 2006, a quartet of Rochester, New York, comedians began doing a spoof on the group called the Upper Class Posse. Consisting of A.I. Carruthers (Andy Boccacino), Delver Wilmington XVIII (Multiple people played this gimmick), Mikey Pecks (Kevin Pittinaro), and Mike Jaworski (Character played by different people at times) the group wore sweater vests and wrestled for Rochester, New York based RWA (Rochester Wrestling Assosciation). Like their WWE counterparts, each member of the Upper Class Posse held the RWA RX title, which is RWA's equivalent of the hardcore title. They disbanded in winter 2006.
