Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit] Pathology atlas

Please do not create inline external links to the Anatomy Atlas. Wikipedia uses the "external links" section for links of that type. If the link is purely used as a source, then the footnote format is used (i.e. a link without description, which displays as a superscript number). JFW | T@lk 10:04, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I will have to remove your additions. They are a breach of copyright. JFW | T@lk 10:16, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

If you do not stop, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. JFW | T@lk 10:47, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Oh, I finally found the reply way. I am so sorry, I saw so late the new messages. I was fascinated by this site. And I tried to add part of my work. I am the webmaster of www.pathologyatlas.ro If I did something wrong, please tell me. If possible, I can fix it. With your help. Mihai

Hi Mihai, thanks for your response. Wikipedia relies on the GFDL, which means that the information is free of copyright issues. Very often, people cut & paste information from websites into Wikipedia, causing copyright issues. We've had angry emails from webmasters that their copyright had been breeched.
I treated your contributions in the same way, for which I extend my apologies. Your work is highly appreciated, but it would be more helpful if it was not an exact copy of the (very nice!) http://www.pathologyatlas.ro.
I was very pleased that you tackled glomerulonephritis. Please stay around and help with Wikipedia. We have too little histopathology information in our articles, so you are most welcome. JFW | T@lk 10:57, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Whew! I was so afraid I made you angry. Sorry again. So I am pathologist, and I saw that this "pathology" chapter is very "slim" in Wiki. And there are alot of "red" internal links. In what consist the copy to much from my pathology atlas, I'd say medicine is that big that you never finish the chapter.

Ok, keep in touch, and teach me how to make it right! Thank you, Mihai

Angry? No way. Just doing my job as an administrator of Wikipedia.
In fact, if you state on your userpage that your contributions from Pathologyatlas are released under the GFDL, there is not actually a problem.
You are right that the red links need addressing. I'll talk you through some details if you want. The manual of style is a good start :-). JFW | T@lk 11:10, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I need help. I think I made a mistake when I started a new article: Hodgkin lymphoma. The category already exists as (Hodgkin's disease). In my oppinion it should be named Lymphoma. Anyway, I removed my text, and I will add it in the existing Hodgkin's disease page. But the Hodgkin lymphoma title still exists, with no content. How to delete it? Is it possible you to do it, please? Thank you. Mihai

I'll turn it into a redirect. JFW | T@lk 07:43, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I see. In the UK we use "Hodgkin's disease", and I think this is the most common name. I don't think it should be moved. JFW | T@lk 07:44, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Some points

Mihai, I am truly pleased you are willing to make your contributions to Wikipedia. As we discussed, the project is short on experts in your field.

Some points:

  • Please check if articles exist on terms you use. For example, carcinoma in situ is an existing article.
  • Bold text is generally used only in the first instance the page title is used. There are other ways to create sections; please see the manual of style.
  • Some contributions may be on the technical side. I totally agree that this kind of information is very hard to "dumb down" for the readership, and I also agree the information does belong in an encyclopedia. Please consider giving explanations of important terms in brackets. For example: dyspnea (shortness of breath).

That should be it for now :-) JFW | T@lk 10:15, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you again. I'm feeling so bad that somebody has to work after me and give "a civilised face" to texts I insert. Here is not that easy as in Word! Especially when there are multiple contributors. I'll try to put some things especially in the "red" internal links. Where can I find a list of them (if this list exists...)? See you.

Don't worry. Wikipedia grows on you :-). Most of the stuff I created when I started has been edited mercilessly by others (and myself). What's more, it's enjoyable!
There is no list of nonextant pages. It would be endless. The wiki keeps a record of pages that are often redlinked: Special:Wantedpages.
Perhaps you may be interested in Wikiproject "Clinical medicine". Here, we discuss issues that pertain to all medical articles. Feel free to join in! JFW | T@lk 12:27, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Well, I saw that many of my adds were removed by you, and I cannot find an explanation for that. I couldn't understand what "rm copyvio" means. Copyrights violation, maybe? I really worked for those adds...

So may my adds be reverted back?

Yes, sorry, that was before you told me that you own the copyright! Of course they can be reverted back: please review Wikipedia:How to revert a page to an earlier version.
Indeed, "copyvio" in Wiki parlance is information that seems to be copied verbatim from elsewhere (books or internet) without a proper permission or reference. Wikipedia:Copyright problems is used for these discussions.
Thanks for your additions! Please keep on your great work. Perhaps we should work on glomerulonephritis together. Do you have any images of IgA nephritis.
Now we're talking about images, would you be willing to license some anatomical and/or pathological slides to Wikipedia? This would very much increase the quality of some pages, e.g. granuloma. JFW | T@lk 19:14, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Step by step, I'm trying to add not only microscopy but also some words about macroscopy. This will take some more time. I don't have an image with IgA nephropathy, but I'll take some pictures with membranoproliferative GN-is and membranous NPathy, Fiedler myocarditis and others... pathology is huge. Important is when somebody searches for something to find it here (no matter how rare is it). See you. Mihai
