McGuire rig
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The McGuire rig was used to extract soldiers from the jungles of Vietnam. It would be suspended from a helicopter and used to extract soldiers from areas without a suitable landing zone. It was simple, cheap and effective and although less comfortable then the STABO Harness it didn’t require the soldier to carry any special equipment. It was designed by a member of Project Delta.
It was fashioned from a 15’ x 3” nylon strap (type A&A) attached to over 100 feet of ½” nylon rope.
