Mazda F platform

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mazda F platform is an automobile platform for rear wheel drive sports cars. It was the basis for three generations of the Mazda RX-7.

Prior to 1981, the platform was coded as "SA2" in the VIN. This was an evolution of the "S1"-coded Capella platforms that preceded the Mazda G platform.

[edit] FB

The FB chassis was a new name for the SA2 used in the 1979-1980 Mazda RX-7.

[edit] FC

The FC platform was quite close to the FB. It also served as the basis for the Mazda MX-5's NA platform.

[edit] FD

[edit] SE

The SE platform is almost entirely different from the FD. The suspension was redesigned, the wheelbase is different, as is almost every other component.
