According to this recent interview [1] maynard has never done stand-up.
[edit] Flaming turds
Any proof for saying Maynard wanted to call Tool "flaming turds" ? --anonymous
- dont know of any, havent found ANY mentioning of that claim apart from this wiki article, therefore, i removed it... thx for pointing that out--Johnnyw 16:51, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Maynard finds Jesus
- REMEMBER, DON”T KILL THE MESSENGER
- You know the old saying, “no news is good news”, well… that was the case as far as the recording process was going for the new Tool CD, but now things may have changed a bit. Yesterday, when I went to the studio to give Maynard a bottle of wine (a 1992 Maya) for winning the bet that I had with him involving his new film “Sleeping Dogs Lie” (I lost by default, not being able to attend the Sedona screening), not only wasn’t Maynard there, but, in what seems to be a case of enantiodromia (something becoming its opposite) if ever there was one (!), I was told the reason why he wasn’t there. I wish this post was dated April 1, but, unfortunately, it isn’t. Like a doctor giving a patient a straight, honest answer to a medical diagnosis, without sugar-coating the truth, here’s exactly what I was told: “Maynard has found Jesus.” This will come as a complete shock to most (but not all) of you, as it did to me. In fact, it just seemed like another MJK prank until I talked to the one person who I believe would know if all this was legit or not. After nearly an hour on the phone with this person, the answer I received was that Maynard has indeed “found Jesus” and that, for this reason, he’s abandoned the project for the time being, if not entirely. I don’t know what the f**k is in the water these days, but hopefully a black jelly belly will turn up in that golden bowl… that’s all I can think to say at this point. Before leaving the studio, I watched as Danny made arrangements to go play some golf, while Adam and Justin kept working on a particular song. So, in case you missed it (those who don’t read the whole post), here’s today's news: Maynard has found Jesus…
http://www.toolband.com/index_frames.html
....Wow....
- I know that was posted on March 31st, but I can almost be certain that it's an April Fool's Day joke. This is Maynard's little way to make us "think for ourselves". MrHate 04:11, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

- I removed some text at the end of this section suggesting that Maynard "really is Christian" because it (A) was highly POV, (B) was unsupported, and (C) looked like it was written by a twelve-year-old. This was the most recent addition to this page and so I felt pretty comfortable nuking it. See changelog for details. Rob 19:15, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- I think you did well. Thanks. --Johnnyw 20:59, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- Wow, THANK YOU, I'm so sorry I didn't catch that sooner. What rubbish.--Cassius987 04:51, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- Removed text that said Maynard, after his April's Fools Day announcement, died from a "roundhouse kick-related death". (since Chuck Norris is most-likely a fan of Tool)

Capitalization of Jesus in quotes. If Maynard didn't capitalize it, and it's a quote, shouldn't it read, "found jesus" as opposed to "found Jesus"? --Scott
[edit] Name
In the short form, he's commonly refered to as Maynard, not Keenan. At least, in my experience, anyway. I'm too lazy to go change it right now, though.
- Erm... this being an encyclopedia, people are generally referred to by surname where fitting. MrHate 02:17, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)
but joey stalin's last name is actually Dzhugashvili and we still call him stalin. i say we follow convention and refer to him as maynard. (@)
[edit] Bring Me The Disco King
This song was mentioned twice in his appearances, and the second time, John Frusciante's presence on the track was added without necessity. I removed the second mention, the first was more objective.
[edit] Freeworld
Later, after a prolonged legal battle with their former label Freeworld Entertainment, the members of Tool...
Wasn't it Zoo? --Cassius987 06:14, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It probably was Volcano/Zoo, yes, don't know of Freeworld.. --Johnnyw July 6, 2005 03:19 (UTC)
-
- it was volcano. you nitwits need to read the faq at down.toolshed.net. (@)
- after reading this article, you might have witnessed, that the correct change has already been made months ago. but thanks for your contribution. --Johnnyw 02:35, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tool 1991-2001?
- He played in Tool (1991-2001); A Perfect Circle (1999-2001).
- NO they fucking diddn't homie, he started tool in '90 --anonymous
- dude, tool started in 1990. not '91 --anonymous #2
What's with that? This suggests he stopped singing for either in 2001. I'm pretty sure that's not true..? -- Sam
- Yeah... also, this page needs some help =\. -- ugen64
-
-
- I guess this is obsolete? As far as I can see, the page now just links to the Tool article, where the correct information can be found. --Johnnyw 20:17, August 21, 2005 (UTC)
-
where is blu? and where is luv?[ee63]
-i suppose now would be a bad time to point out that they have a new cd in production...and apc has put out two cds (because emotive was such a lowly piece of crap that i'm not counting it here)
[edit] A Perfect Circle Defunct?
User:69.115.141 added that as of 2006 A Perfect Circle is defunct. Is this accurate? AmiDaniel (Talk) 06:29, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- I tried to find any evidence suggesting so, but couldn't. The only information I could gather is more than a year old, stating that APC will reconvene after the current Tool release/tour: "We're gonna hopefully reconvene a couple of years from now, after Maynard's done doing his thing with Tool and I'm done doing my thing with whatever that's gonna be called, and if Jeordie's available and James and Josh, then bring them around, and maybe Troy and Paz, it works out that they come back, I don't know... you just never know what's going to happen." (Howerdel) [2] --Johnnyw 15:33, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
The article states he confirmed APC is over for good. That is not exactly true. He stated in a French interview that the band has no immediate plans for new tours and releases, however refused to literarly say that the band had split up. So claiming that APC is dead, is maybe a bit looking too far without any member using those words? It is not sure if they will ever re-unite, but it's not something that is out of question.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 170.65.192.6 (talk • contribs) 14:09, 2006 October 25 (UTC)
[edit] Maynard is a Skinhead?
"left the military to join the skinhead movement at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan" who the hell wrote that, and is it true? what am I missing here???? why doesn't this make no @#% sense?
- Both of the edits by 166.77.6.4 have the same quality of vandalism to them, I checked the contrib log of 166.77.6.4 and noticed another batch of vandalism of this page back on 2006 March 20. I am removing those two edits. — Asatruer 19:46, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] picture
i've uploaded a picture of Maynard which i believe meets the proper licensing criteria (someone please correct me if i'm wrong). if it does and you guys like it as a main portrait for this page, then i'll (or someone can) add it into the page. i just thought i'd get a consensus first - don't wanna post a picture no one likes. [edit] Top Photo is horrible
ANYONE please find a picture that is safe to upload via copyright standards and REPLACE that horrific black and white picture of MJK from years and years ago!
What're you talking about? It's fucking hilarious. Pretty boy, goody-two shoes Maynard.
[edit] Maynard a Scientologist?
I was wondering if anyone knew if Maynard is a Scientologist, he has many references to L. Ron Hubbard in his work, he he just critising his work or what? Teh mephisto 17:09, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
"fuck l. ron hubbard and fuck all his clones" -aenima (http://www.stanford.edu/~npai/wallowing.html)
-plexitox
- I don't think a scientologist would consider their fellow peers mere sheep. (See Maynard biting remarks and gestures at his concert at some Scientology concert). Plexitox pretty much hit it right on the spot with the excerpt from Aenima; showing that people should actually listen to music. --ShadowJester07 04:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Keenan and Allah?
In light of the conflict in the Middle East and Keenan's view of religion, does anyone know if Keenan has called Allah or Mohammad punks (as he did concerning Jesus) or said fuck Allah and Mohammad (as he did concerning L. Ron Hubbard), or does he simply reserve his animus for the religion of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and for Scientology? --dawg
[edit] Statutory Rape
Are we going to not cover the time he was arrested in the late '90s for statutory rape (the photo is out there somewhere) because it's a positive, fan-run page?
- If it is verifiable from reliable sources, than it should be in this bio article, but if it is not than it should not per WP:BLP
—Asatruer 12:21, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
i can find no evidence of this. it would be a matter of public record, and i see nothing to support this as fact, as of now.The undertow 00:19, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image MIA?
Does anyone know what happened to the image that was previously on top of the page? --ShadowJester07 00:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- That image was improperly licensed. According to its Flickr page, the author did not allow commercial or derivative use (cc tag {{cc-by-nc-nd-2.0}}). Such images are not allowed according to Wikipedia image use policy. If you were to contact the author and get permission to relicense the photo under {{cc-by-2.0}} or {{cc-by-sa-2.0}}, then it could be used. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 05:34, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Contradictions
1.
The section 'Biography' claims "That same year Keenan explained in an interview conducted by French magazine "Rock Hard", that his band A Perfect Circle is not only on hiatus due to the release of Tool's fourth full-length studio album, but finished."
The introductory paragraph still claims APC is on hiatus. The former is sourced, should we go with that?
2.
The section 'Maynard and Comedy' states "he is featured wearing a wig as the lead singer of a fictitious band "Puscifer,"".
The section 'As Puscifer' lists a number of tracks that are officially credited as Puscifer, and there are many external links to Puscifer sites. Am I right in being able to remove "a fictitious"?
Rickythakrar 10:49, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
UPDATE: I jus realised that Puscifer didn't exist when the comedy sketch aired, and that Puscifer was named after the sketch. Rickythakrar 10:53, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, there was a similar problem with a Puscifer reference on the Adam Jones page that got cleaned up in much the same way. Puscifer is in fact in existance and has created at least two tracks (Rev 22:20 and The Undertaker). I also polished the grammar up a bit on the page. Deutschebag17 17:42, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Source of name
Is it perhaps worth mentioning that the source of Maynard's assumed name is almost certainly John Maynard Keynes? This really jumped out at me when I took a political science class a few years back, and frankly I can't imagine where the hell else he got the name Maynard from. I was surprised when I saw that it wasn't mentioned in the article already. 71.193.152.63 13:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
what are u talking about? What makes u think he got "Maynard" from the British Economist John Maynard Keynes??!? Because they now have the same initials in different orders? Have u never heard the name Maynard before?? Get off the dope.
[edit] Infobox image
Flickr came through again, user deep schismic was gratious enough to post two concert pictures from the Roskilde Festival under a cc-by-sa-2.0 license. Here are a few variations for your consideration:
The selection of Image:Maynard James Keenan Roskilde 1.jpg was cursory, does any one of the above seem like a better fit? ˉˉanetode╦╩ 10:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Singing Abilities
Sorry if this is irrelevant, but is anyone sure on Keenans singing specifics as in range, vocal weight, and further classifications? Does anyone else think this info would be useful? 67.186.225.14 03:51, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
