Mayor of Kiev

Mayor of Kiev (Ukrainian: мер міста Києва, mer mista Kyieva) is the mayor of the municipality of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The current mayor is Leonid Chernovetsky, recently elected on March 26, 2006.

According to the Kiev city election commission, Chernovetsky garnered 32 percent of the recently held mayoral election, Vitali Klitschko placed second with 24 percent, and incumbent Oleksandr Omelchenko - placed third with 21 percent. As of December of 2006 rating of mayor decreased to 8% (eight percents). That is the most due to the fact of lying to the electors, most notably he increase price of appartament services (such as hot and cold running water and gas) by 340%.
