Mayo is a constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency has an electorate of 94,854 and at present is served by 5 Teachtaí Dála (TDs). The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote.

The constituency spans the entire area of Mayo County Council in the Connacht county of Mayo. These areas include Castlebar, Westport and Ballina. Geographically, Mayo is the largest constituency in the state.

Presently, the leader of Fine Gael and the Leader of the Opposition, Enda Kenny is one of the most high profile TDs from the constituency. His party colleague, Michael Ring, is outspoken on a range of issues. Beverley Flynn, who was elected as a Fianna Fáil TD, has since been expelled from the Parliamentary Party after losing a libel action against RTÉ. In effect this means that she is an Independent TD but she still votes in favour of Fianna Fáil. Recently, Fianna Fáil leader Bertie Ahern disbanded a cumann (branch) of the party that continued to support her. Her father, Pádraig Flynn, served the constituency for over twenty-five years before his retirement from domestic politics.
