Mayfield Fund

Mayfield Fund is a venture capital firm located on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, California, home to many of Silicon Valley's leading venture capital firms.

Mayfield was founded in 1969 by Tommy Davis, one of the first venture capitalists. Mayfield has raised 12 funds to date and has more than $2.7 billion under management. Since its inception, Mayfield has invested in more than 470 companies, taken over 100 companies public, and facilitated 150 mergers and acquisitions. Some notable investments include 3COM, Tibco, Genentech, Peribit, webMethods and Snapfish.

Mayfield has eight managing directors including Yogen Dalal, Kevin Fong, Janice Roberts, Robin Vasan, Allen Morgan, David Ladd, Raj Kapoor and James Beck. Dalal joined the firm in 1991 and Fong joined in 1988, from Claris and David Systems, respectively. Dalal was also a member of the original Star and Ethernet development teams at Xerox and co-authored the TCP specification while at Stanford University.

Mayfield's investments are primarily in early-stage information technology companies with a focus on enterprise software, Internet consumer & media services, and communications.
