30% of the students qualified for free or reduced lunch.

During the 2004-2005 school year, a senior prank was performed on their own school when students toilet papered the entire school and spray painted vulgar pictures all over the walls. Several students were sent to jail and prom was almost canceled.[citation needed]

[edit] The March 29 Walk Out

On Wednesday, March 29, 2006, about 35 Mayde Creek students participated in La Gran Marcha, in response to H.R. 4437. The majority of the students were of Latino ethnicity.

They walked out of school and marched to the Harris County Courthouse Annex, located on Clay road, several miles away. They congregated at the parking lot, in front of the Courthouse entrance.

The students had received warnings about disciplinary action, however, the students marched anyway. The reported punishment was to be five days of in-school suspension, and those who were seniors would not be allowed to participate in the senior trip/outing [2].
