Maya Kamath

Maya Kamath was an Indian cartoonist. Born 1951 died 2001.

Born in Bombay, she held a masters degree in English literature. For some years she worked with Mcmillan. She was also a drawing teacher at the Sophia's School. She was influenced by work of Lin Johnson.

In 1985 she began the career as a cartoonist. First with The Evening Herald a publication of Deccan Herald group. In the later years she worked for Indian news papers like The Indian Express, The Asian Age and Times of India

She also contributed environmental cartoons in a German collection called Third World. She has been awarded on many occasions.

She died of cancer. Her collection is currently with SPARROW link below. Her collection of cartoons were published as The World of MAYA
