[edit] IRCMonitor

Hi MaxSem, thanks for for doing work on the IRC monitor, and for making a separate page. Do you think it would be best to use the same checkpage as AWB rather than having a separate one?, as it is quite a lot of work to maintain them, and it's unlikely that we would ever put a user on one page but not another. thanks. Martin 10:40, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

I guess you're right. I'll use IRCM/CP for testing purposes and put it to death later. But I was thinking about automatically approving all admins and blacklisting those that got caught on edit-warring. Also, there will probably be three levels of access - unregistered (only monitoring, no approval required), basic (reverting, warning, tagging pages) and power tools (blocking, mass reversions in background). If tere will be single check page, it will probably need to be restructured. MaxSem 11:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Also, there's such issue: AWB and IRCM users could have slightly different requirements. For example, good article writer could benefit from AWB, but without enough vandalwhacking experience he could be dangerous with IRCM. MaxSem 11:12, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
We could re-structure the existing checkpage a bit if we need to. I think that if we trust a user to use AWB we trust them to use IRCM and vice versa. Anyway, problems with bad users are very small when we only allow users with >500 edits to register, so I wouldn't worry about it. Martin 11:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Max, let me know when you think IRCM is fit to be released. thanks Martin 19:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I just synchronised the version numbers. I prefer getting the sysops from the checkpage, it is quicker because it means less http requests, and admin features enabled/diabled more selectively. Martin 22:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

In your last commit you added Background.cs, however you need to "add" the file (on the SVN menu) then commit it, otherwise the file is not included and it won't compile. Martin 15:16, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Ow, sorry. Added it. MaxSem 15:22, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

enwiki.stubs.txt needs to be added as well. Martin 10:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Done, I thought I didn't commit code that needs it. MaxSem 20:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't compile now, I think you may have not committed AutoWikiBrowser.csproj, as the new files are not included in the project. Martin 15:11, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Barnstar

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For your efforts in keeping Wikipedia vandalism free. For incredibly not receiving one of these awards sooner, and for working hard in general. Keep it up! Mkdwtalk 08:19, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Well deserved - thanks for reverting my userpage. :) riana_dzasta 08:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes very well deserved. No problem at all. Mkdwtalk 08:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit to Nazi Germany

Your recent edit to Nazi Germany (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Nazi Germany. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. [Iridescence]  talkcontrib 22:12, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I somehow messed that one up, although it did look like a mass delete. Again, sorry. Take care! [Iridescence]  talkcontrib 22:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] your redirect

The Wikipedia, as a reference work that is free, contains many, many lists which may seem to lack encyclopedic contentbut provide valuable information which is unavailable by any other means except for unreasonably high price. For this reason it is not a good idea to tamper with such articles. Living in the former Soviet Union you might also appreciate the fact that even though Communism has been displaced there the need to challenge corporate robber barrons through publication of online works such as the Wikipedia serves many socialist ideals (unlike Communism) with minmum pain. The da Vinci Barnstar
For taking over the development of AWB after the sad departure of Martin. You're the only developer now, but you can do it! —Mets501 (talk) 19:22, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, Mets! I'll try to do my best to comply with this honor. MaxSem 09:49, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations, you're a AWB developer now! MaxSem 16:22, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Yay! Thanks :-). I just made my first changes too! —Mets501 (talk) 16:50, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regan

The answer is there is nothing wrong with the CNN link. I thought it was on YT. Having a dumb moment I guess. Sorry. I will take more care in future. I didn't think the YT link was actually a copyvio - the note on YT says its PD and the quality doesn't appear professional. --Spartaz 09:53, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure, everyone can make a mistake. Just try not to edit too aggresively, or more mistakes will be inevitable. Happy editing! MaxSem 09:59, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AWB

Hi there. I'm also an admin for AWB on sourceforge and was on a wikibreak so I missed Martin leaving.

I can truly say it is the saddest thing I could imagine regarding Wikipedia contributors this year.

Anyway, I'm back and would like to help get the ball rolling again.

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia, -- That Guy, From That Show! 07:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, nice to hear that you're back. MaxSem 13:31, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! (Ukrainian: З Новим Роком!, Russian: С Новым Годом!). I wish you in 2007 to be spared of the real life troubles so that you will continue to care about Wikipedia. We will all make it a better encyclopedia! I also wish things here run smoothly enough to have our involvement in Wikipedia space at minimum, so that we can spend more time at Main. --Irpen
