Saint Maximus of Aquila (d. ca. 250 AD) is the patron saint of L'Aquila, Italy. A deacon, he was martyred for his faith -traditionally, by being thrown over a cliff near his native city. This occurred during the persecutions of Decius.

The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of L'Aquila is dedicated in his name and that of St. George, another martyr.
