Maxie Ford
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Maxie Ford is a tap dance step consisting of four movements: step, shuffle, leap, toe.
To perform a Maxie Ford to the right:
- step on the right foot
- shuffle with the left
- "leap" (jump) to the left foot (weight changes from right to left foot)
- tap the tip of the right toe on the floor
The "toe" is usually tapped behind the standing foot (in which case the shuffle and leap cross over to the front), though it may instead be tapped in front (with the shuffle and leap crossing back). A Maxie Ford usually travels to the side in the direction of the starting foot, but can also be performed stationary. When travelling, Maxi Fords are often done in succession, beginning with the same foot every time. Maxie Fords may also be done turning, such that each one is performed in a single rotation.
