Max Deutsch

Max Deutsch (born November 17, 1892 in Vienna; died November 22, 1982 in Paris) was an Austrian-French musical composer, conductor, and teacher.
He was a pupil of Arnold Schoenberg and founded the theater Der Jüdische Spiegel (The Jewish Mirror) in Paris. Here, many works of composers like Schoenberg, Anton Webern, or Alban Berg were debuted in France. From 1940 to 1945, Deutsch served in the French Foreign Legion. In Paris, his students included the composers György Kurtág, Luis de Pablo and the music critic Heinz-Klaus Metzger.
