MaxTrax
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MaxTrax is a Canadian English and French language digital broadcasting or digital television radio service, which offers 20 commercial-free music channels, each devoted to a particular genre of music, using no live, on-air disc jockeys. It is similar to Music Choice in the United States and the UK and also similar to DMX Music which operates in North America and much of Europe as well as South Africa. It is distributed with digital cable or direct broadcast satellite services such as Rogers Digital Cable, StarChoice and Cogeco. Max Trax is owned and operated by Corus Entertainment.
Because of service duplication, MaxTrax and Galaxie (another music provider) agreed in 2002 to provide a joint 40-channel audio distribution service to satellite and digital cable television providers. This service is known as the "Max Trax Galaxie Package".
Shaw Cable uses the MaxTrax Hits channel as the background music for its Environment Canada Weather analogue cable service.
