Mawlamyine Bridge

Mawlamyaing Bridge via Thanlwin River in Mon State connecting Capital city of Mawlamyine and Mottama town is the longest ever bridge in Myanmar. It was first built in 18 March 2000 and fully completed in the 18th April, 2006, though its estimated completion was by 2008.

Mawlamyaing bridge was designed by local engineers under the Ministry of Construction, Myanmar. The bridge is designed to connect capital Mawlamyaing and Mottama in three ways of access, 2 lanes motor road, 1 rail track and 2 sidewalks. The main structure of the bridge is 7,699 feet long. For motor bridge, the South side approach road on Mawlamyine bank is 1,624 feet long and the North side one on Mottama bank is 2,252 feet long, total length of motor bridge becomes 11,575 ft or 2.2 miles.
