[edit] Pound sterling

It seems that you believe pounds issued by the 3 crown dependencies are variants of pound sterling. (But Gibraltar, Falkland, and St. Helena pounds are separate currencies?) (like ISO points out, there is no code for the 3 crown dependency pounds). So why not add Manx pound note to Sterling banknotes? --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 20:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

By the way, you forgot to fix double redirects. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 20:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Manx banknote was at the top, but I have now added it in the middle where the Channel Islands were. Various government sources and the histories of the currencies indicate that the Crown Dependency coinage and notes are variants of sterling (that's not necessary a bad thing, or stating that they are any more or less worthy than Bank of England notes, by the way). Similarly government sources for the pound-denominated Overseas Terrorities indicate that they are distinct but at-par currencies. The ISO codes reflect this status. As to why the difference, I'm not sure - probably historic, or to do with the different legal status of each type of entity.

I don't know about other dependancies, but the Isle of Man's pounds are considered seperate as the manx government controls its own money supply (in consultation with the UK authorities), interest and inflation rates etc. So while it is held at parity exchange rate, it is not pound sterling. Would you like to explain what you're on about? Mauls 00:23, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Hercules Cycle and Motor Company was copied directly from [1]. This is not allowed. If there are any other articles you have copied from elsewhere without explicit permission, you must have them removed immediately. —Centrxtalk • 01:17, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
That was not a duplication, it was using facts from that page. That is allowed.Mauls 01:20, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry thanks for contacting me, you may simply revert back to your version. Arjun 19:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] UCI logo

Hi there. I've seen that you have added the Union Cycliste Internationale logo, Image:Logo of the UCI.jpg. As I understand, the fair use rationale that you have given means applies only to demonstrate the organization in question and as such, the widespread use you have applied is copyright infringement. If you understand this to be different please contact me or I'll start removing it from all the extra articles. Regards, Mk3severo 22:48, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I've removed all the logos from articles where fair use doesn't apply. All the logos you are uploading also need source information - I am tagging all of them without this. This is really important - and fair use images can be deleted after 48 hours if it's not provided. Mk3severo 23:43, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
It may be obvious to you, but it needs to be explicit so it can easily be checked. The source (i.e. URL) of the image must be specified, as well as the copyright holder (usually the organization in question). Have a read through the Image use policy and Uploading images, where it states, If you did not create the image or are unable or unwilling to verify its copyright status, do not upload the image.. Mk3severo 23:57, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
An exact URL can must be given: provide the original URL, then a note saying cropped/cleaned/resized or whatever using Photoshop. Also, if you see any logo's without source information, please prepend the image page with {{subst:nsd}}. If you don't fancy doing that, tell me the images in question and I will do it. The fact that someone else hasn't provided copyright information doesn't legitimize doing it again. Mk3severo 00:03, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

All you have to do is state exactly where you sourced the image from and the copyright holder. Leave a note saying if you altered the image or scanned it or whatever. Fair use images are perfectly acceptable - unless this information is not provided. It is your responsibility, as the uploader, to provide this information. Mk3severo 00:07, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Please try to specify the exact webpage/url and the copyright holder. Thanks. Mk3severo 00:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I will where possible - in most cases the logo is present on the front page of the site, which would establish that it is fair-use. Mauls 00:18, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Federación Cubana de Ciclismo

The logo that you added to Federación Cubana de Ciclismo is for a different cycling federation, the one for Costa Rica. --Eastmain 01:02, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:UCIAmericaTour.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:UCIAmericaTour.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:12, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
