Mauro Ranallo, born December 21, 1969, is a Canadian commentator for a multitude of sports, including football, hockey, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts events, best known for his work in PRIDE FC and, most recently, Elite XC. He began announcing when he was 16 years old.[1] Since September 2006, he has been the lead anchor/play-by-play announcer for North America's only 24-hour combat sports channel, The Fight Network in Toronto.

[edit] Career

Ranallo began his career as an announcer and manager at the age of 16, when he was offered a job with All-Star Wrestling (in Vancouver), a nationally televised event throughout Canada.[2]

Later, he provided play-by-play announcing duties for Muay Thai/Kickboxing events and King of the Cage mixed martial arts shows on Canada's TSN.[2]

He is most prominently known among MMA fans as the voice of PRIDE Fighting Championships in Japan from 2003 until October 2006 – when he announced his departure from the company to pursue other opportunities – in providing play-by-play commentary for all world-wide, English Pay-Per-View broadcasts.[2]

He has commentated alongside the likes of Bas Rutten, Frank Trigg, and Bill Goldberg.
