Mauro Magellan (born Mauro Paiva Magalhaes), was born in Brazil on December 26th, 1954. He came to the United States when he was 16 and lived in Miami, Florida.

He traveled all over the world, even hitchhiking across Europe where he met many interesting characters and friends.

Mauro became the drummer for southern influnced band the Georgia Satellites, along with Dan Baird, Rick Price, and Rick Richards. Their song, "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" hit #2 on the Billboard charts, beaten by Bon Jovi's "Livin' On a Prayer." The band later broke up but Mauro still continues to play music. The current band he is in is called The Crashers, formerly the Gate Crashers. The other members of The Crashers include Jennifer Deprez (vocals), Gary Hendrickson (guitar), John Wartenweiler (bass), and the organ player (will edit this later). Mauro also gives drum lessons to young aspiring musicians in his spare time and frequently appears for Monroe Schools' career days as a musician.

He currently lives in Monroe, Wisconsin with his wife, Tracy, and two daughters, Rachel (16) and Julia (13).

The way he met Tracy definatley sounds something like a fairy tale to most people. They met while Mauro was filming the music video for "Keep Your Hands To Yourself." He invited her to be in the video with him, and it all started from there. They married in October of 1988.

His first daughter, Rachel, was born in January of 1991 in Burlington, Wi. They lived in Lake Geneva for a year before moving to Monroe. Their second daughter, Julia, was born in July of 1993.

Mauro also wrote and illustrated a few children's books, his favorite being "Max the Apartment Cat." Today, Mauro no longer writes books, but he does illustrate them from time to time.

Mauro currently works at Maple Leaf Cheese company as a graphic designer. His primary line of work? Cheese labels. Tracy works as a floral designer while his two daughters attend the Monroe schools. Rachel does have a part time job at Dairy Queen, but aspires to be a writer. Julia is the street smart one who aspires to be a lawyer.

Mauro's daughters have also inherited his talent for art and music. They and their mother also attend many of their dad's musical events. The concerts the wish to go to, but usually can't, are the concerts of Dan Baird and Friends, where Mauro and his old bandmate Dan reunite and tour Europe.
