[edit] Mariah Carey and Image:Mimi in red.jpg

Please do not keep replacing Image:Mariah Carey in January 2000.jpg with Image:Mimi in red.jpg. The image already present on the article is under a free license, while the one you uploaded is copyrighted and most-likely non-free. Wikipedia:Fair use criteria states that we must always use free-licensed alternatives if they are available. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 16:18, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Fighter.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Fighter.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. cholmes75 (chit chat) 20:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Britney endorse.jpg)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Britney endorse.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cholmes75 (chit chat) 20:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Removal

[edit] SATC_Region2_Boxset.jpg removed from your user page

An image or media file, Image:SATC_Region2_Boxset.jpg, has been removed from your userpage or user talk page because it was licensed as fair use. Wikipedia's fair use policy states that fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's fair use policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of fair use images. Thank you for your cooperation.

And there were others. All of them have been removed. joturner 21:39, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
