Talk:Matt Sanchez/Archive 1
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I just removed a db-nonsense tag that I placed only moments before. I figured this article was a joke an dtagged it for a speedy delete, but then I thought, "Well, what the heck - let's Google this Sanchez guy and check it out." And sure enough, it checks out - at least enough to take the tag off. I'm still kinda scratching my head over this, but let's see where it goes. Sorry about the hasty "hook." - The Matt Sanchez story has emerged from the blogosphere into the legitimate media. Sanchez has written an article for Salon, available here: http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2007/03/08/matt_sanchez/ , in which each and every piece of the Wikipedia stub is verified by the article's subject. The facts of his television appearances and his award by a major political group qualify him for inclusion on the grounds of notability. The facts of his careers in the sex industry are also thoroughly germane to his biography - particularly because his filmography alone qualifies him on the grounds of notability. - I agree, now that I've done a little checking. Unfortunately, someone deleted the article before they could see my retraction above. Thankfully, all I had to do was backtrack a few pages in my browser to find the original text, so I put it back. Again, sorry I was too quick to try to kill this. I did remove the sentence about him being a prostitute because I couldn't find verification, but if anyone can cite a source, feel fee to put it back. Realkyhick 09:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

- From the Salon article cited above: "Others were comparing me to Jeff Gannon and claiming that I too had advertised my services as a male escort. I won't deny it" Malangali 09:45, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

- Good enough for me; restore the sentence. (Wait - you already did.) Wow, this is going to be very interesting, once the media and the blogosphere gets through with it. Attention, Matt Drudge!! Realkyhick 09:51, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

- This will be a fascinating story to follow. My goal in posting the initial stub was to make sure the inevitable Wikipedia article was factual and NPOV. That it looks like classic vandalism only says that sometimes truth really IS stranger than fiction... Malangali 10:04, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

- That's what got me too, Malangali. It looked so much like typical vandalism. Realkyhick 01:51, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

This story is hysterical. The article should link to his videos on youtube on Hannity and O'Reilly's shows. Additionally the link should redirect "rod majors" searhes. Agrippina Minor
[edit] Prostitution and support
Umm, ok, as others have pointed out, Matt Sanchez admitted in his Salon.com interview that he used to be a male escort. The archived version of his escorting page (which was used as proof in the intial blogosphere posts) is located here: http://web.archive.org/web/20010124031600/http://excellent-top.com/ WARNING: it is not safe for work. I tried to add the sentence + link but User: Mkdw reverted it for some reason. I've asked him why he did so so hopefully he will see this and post here. Also, David Horowitz (on Front Page Mag) and Michelle Malkin have come out in Sanchez's defense. The links to both are on Sanchez's own blogspot if people want to check it out and integrate that into the article. -ThongWearer 07:13, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] From User talk:Mkdw
Why did you remove the link to Matt Sanchez's escorting page? Someone had deleted the bit about him being a prostitute before and I was merely providing the source of that allegation. -ThongWearer 07:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
--Can you please check the page Talk: Matt Sanchez? I see this:

So the two main authors of the article agree that there is justification in the prostitution allegation. Why is it wrong for me to include the link to the archived escorting page that joemygod.blogspot.com used to prove this allegation? Since its agreed that this is a major part of the incident it seems very rash to me for you to delete my contribution and the external link without explaining yourself. Can you please comment on it? -ThongWearer 07:18, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

- The comment was mistaken as an attack comment as no direct citation was used to the addition. Please be sure to include a Reference section as well as use of the templates such as {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} to reference content that may be confused as an attack comment. On Wikipedia we experience hundreds of thousands of edits by vandals attacking other people such as in articles like George W. Bush. Sorry for the mistake, but I hope you can understand how such a mistake could be made in this circumstance. Mkdwtalk 07:39, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I've added this baby, which provides some perspective from the conservative side:
