Talk:Matrix (computer science)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Administrators! IMHO This article should be deleted - there's no such a thing as a separate 'computer science' matrix. Linear algebra is the same for computers and manual calculations. Dietmar 62.118.129.189 01:38, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

- I disagree, there is a concept of a matrix specific to computer science. In computer science a two dimensional array is called a matrix. It is not necessarily the same thing as a matrix in math.
-
- The math article defines matrix as "a rectangular table of numbers or, more generally, a table consisting of abstract quantities that can be added and multiplied."
-
- In computer science a matrix may contain different types of data...including text, boolean (true/false) and even complex data types such as objects. AbstractClass 04:08, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I added some information taken from The Jargon file circa 1992, as a scan through other pages using that definition of matrix appears to ignore the common denominator, which this article appears to nearest match. 172.141.152.148 18:58, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
