Materialization (science fiction) just redirects right to teleportation, but that's not always how it's used in sci-fi; there are some examples of materialization of matter from energy, for instance the replicator (Star Trek), the Grails from the Riverworld novels, in the tv series Ark II, one of the Tom Swift books from the '80s, and probably a lot more that I've forgotten.
