This IP made a great update to the article, but did not provide any references. Unfortunately, he/she also includes some counter-references ("contrary to popular belief"). Unfortunately, without references to the former, I think we would be inclined to believe the latter. I'm going to trim out some of the unsubstanciated bits and hope that they come back with some references. (I work for Matchmaker's parent company, Lycos, but I'm afraid that I don't have access to any internal documentation describing the pre-aquisition, neither would that documentation be acceptable as source material for Wikipedia.)
