Matthew Greener

Matthew Greener is the lead singer and guitarist of the British band Morning Runner, known for his unique, raspy singing voice.
Matthew started out as a drummer in another band, even though he was writing a lot of their material. Frustrated, he left to perform solo, until one night a local promoter asked him to play again with his band. Matthew agreed, though not admitting he didn't have band so hurriedly recruited Tom and Ali.
"I just liked them as people, though it helped I didn't know them so well," explains the soft-spoken vocalist.
At their debut performance, future band member Fields enjoyed the freshness of what he saw. It had previously been suggested that he join the band and so he did. This was despite Matthew's reluctance of adding a pianist to a group that were convinced all they needed to do was to write songs like those of their then favourite garage bands the Strokes, White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
