Matthew Geary House

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Matthew Geary House is a wood-framed single family home on Market Street, Mackinac Island, built about 1842. It is owned by the Mackinac Island State Park.

It is a two-story, side-gabled frame house with an entrance porch topped with a balustrade and an enclosed side porch. Its raised basement, an architectural response to bedrock close to the surface, is characteristic of traditional Mackinac Island architecture.

The Geary House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. As of 2006, it was not open to the public.
